Farmer Paces GW Golf on First Day of Rutgers Invitational

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Junior Lucas Farmer carded a career-best 69 in the second round of the season-opening Rutgers Invitational to pace the George Washington on the first day of the season-opening Rutgers Invitational.
Farmer followed a first-round 4-over 75 with his 2-under 69 in the second round to wrap the day in a tie for 14th place out of 84 total players at 2-over 144.
As a team, GW sits in eighth place at 25-over 593 after carding a solid 5-over 289 in the second round, including a pair of eagles by sophomores Vince Palazzolo and Jack Porcelli.
Making his collegiate debut, freshman Logan Lowe carded a second-round 2-over 73 following a 77 in the first round and is tied for 38th place at 8-over 150. Palazzolo rebounded from a tough opening round to post a team- and career-best 3-under 68 in the second to finish in a tie for 64th at 14-over 156.
Junior Christian Cichan is also tied for 64th place at 14-over 156 (77-79), while Porcelli rounds out the Colonials' scoring five at 16-over 158 (75-83) and is tied for 73rd.
Playing as individuals, senior Michael Helton is tied for 35th place at 7-over 149 (73-76), junior Michael Heda is tied for 55th at 12-over 154 (76-78), senior Steve Piela is tied for 64th place at 14-over 156 (79-77) and senior Pierre Tillement is tied for 71st at 15-over 157 (79-78).
Towson leads the 13-team field at 7-under 561, and the Tigers' Ryan Siegler holds a one-shot lead at 7-under 135.
GW will conclude the Rutgers Invitational on Saturday morning.
