GW Golf Begins Spring Break at Bash at the Beach

WASHINGTON - The GW golf team begins its first of two tournaments during spring break on Monday at Appalachian State's 54-hole Bash at the Beach at the Surf Golf Club in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
GW will be among an 18-team field comprising of the host Mountaineers along with Abilene Christian, Alabama State, Arkansas State, Belmont, Bethune-Cookman, Fairleigh Dickinson, Gardner-Webb, High Point, James Madison, Liberty, North Carolina Central, Ohio Dominican, Radford, Stetson, Valparaiso and West Georgia.
Juniors Michael Helton and Steve Piela, sophomore Michael Heda and freshmen Jack Porcelli and Vince Palazzolo will form the Colonials' five-player team, while senior Jack Persons, junior Pierre Tillement, sophomore Lucas Farmer and freshman Zack Bailey will compete as individuals.
Helton led GW in its spring debut at the Davidson Invitational last week, posting a career-best 11th-place finish at 4-over 143 (73-75).
Appalachian State University men's golf opens its spring season in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on Monday. Appalachian is hosting the Bash at the Beach tournament at Surf Golf Club. The Surf Golf Club is a par 71, 6,741 yard golf course.
The 54-hole tournament will span two days on the par-71, 6,741-yard Surf Golf Club with 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday.
