GW Volleyball Sweeps Metropolitan University of Puerto Rico in Exhibition

GW hit .299 in the match (43k-14e-97a) while limiting UMET to a .134 attack percentage. The Colonials' defense forced 21 attack errors and totaled 7.0 team blocks while out-digging the opposition by a margin of 48-32.
The win marks the fourth straight outing to open the season that GW has not conceded a set.
UMET opened the first set on a 8-3 run before the Colonials rallied to take a 16-14 lead and eventually GW earned a 25-19 victory.
The Colonials swung .333 with just three attack errors in the second frame to take a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-17 win.
GW completed the sweep by forcing 10 UMET attack errors and converting 76-percent (13-of-17) of sideout opportunities en route to a 25-17 third-set win.
Junior Jordan Timmer and sophomore Emily Clemens each tallied double-digit assists for the Colonials with 23 and 12, respectively.
Defensively, sophomore Chidima Osuchukwu posted a match-high four blocks (two solo, two assists) while junior Maggie Skjelbred added three block assists.
Freshman Christina Porada paced the defense with a match-high 14 digs and junior Maddy Doyle contributed 12 digs.
Ashley Jimenez paced UMET with 10 kills while Yajaira Acevedo added nine winners.
GW resumes the regular season at this weekend's James Madison Invitational in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The Colonials will face Southeastern Louisiana on Friday before a doubleheader against Hampton and the host Dukes on Saturday.
