GW Baseball Hosts Monmouth for Three-Game Series

GW (4-9) set a season-high in hits (16) and runs scored in an 11-4 win over Saint Peter's on Tuesday at Barcroft Park. Six different players registered multiple hits while three players had multiple RBIs as the Colonials picked up their fourth win of the season.
Sophomore Luke Olson earned the win out of the bullpen after pitching 4.1 innings and allowing one unearned run with two strikeouts. Senior Colin Milon earned the save in 1.2 innings of relief.
Junior Ryan Xepoleas leads the Colonials' offense into the weekend, batting a team-best .347 with five doubles and six RBIs, in addition to five multiple-hit games. Senior Owen Beighol ranks second on the team with a .318 batting average and leads the team in home runs (2), RBIs (8) and runs scored (7).
Freshman Joey Bartsoic has reached base safely in eight consecutive games dating back to his first career start on March 1.
GW's pitching staff currently ranks fourth in the Atlantic 10 with a 4.46 ERA. The Colonials will start sophomore Jacob Williams (1-1, 2.60 ERA) on Friday followed by senior Aaron Weisberg (0-2, 3.20 ERA) on Saturday and sophomore Bobby LeWarne (0-2, 4.15 ERA) on Sunday.
Monmouth (2-7) picked up its second victory of 2014 with a 7-5 win over Penn on Sunday afternoon. Steve Wilgus paces the Hawks' offense with a .342 batting average with three doubles and three RBIs through the first nine games of the season.
