WASHINGTON - The George Washington baseball team will begin a four-game homestand by hosting Delaware State at Barcroft Park on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
The game between the Colonials and Hornets was originally scheduled to be played on Wednesday afternoon, but was postponed due to inclement weather.
GW (1-3) will play 16 of its next 19 games at Barcroft Park with games against Lafayette (Feb. 28-March 1), Cornell (March 8-9), St. Peter's (March 12), Monmouth (March 14-16), Saint Joseph's (March 21-23) and UMBC (March 25).
The Colonials opened the 2014 season last Wednesday with a come-from-behind 4-3 victory over UMES at Barcroft Park before falling in three games at Southeastern Louisiana this past weekend.
Senior Owen Beightol leads the offense with a .438 batting average (7-of-16) through the first four games of the season. Beightol has tallied one double, one home run and two RBIs in addition to a team-best three multiple-hit games. He has reached base safely in all four games this season. Junior Ryan Xeploeas leads the Colonials with four RBIs.
Sophomore Bobby LeWarne (0-1) will get the start on the mound in Thursday's game.
