GW Golf Caps Fall Season at Wendy's Kiawah Classic

WASHINGTON - The George Washington golf team will look to complete its fall 2014 season on a high note at Charleston Southern's three-day, 54-hole Wendy's Kiawah Classic in Kiawah Island, South Carolina, on Nov. 2-4.
It marks the fifth consecutive season the Colonials will compete at the Buccaneers' event played on renowned Turtle Point Golf Course, a par-72, 7,100-yard layout designed by Jack Nicklaus and ranked among Golf Digest's 100 Greatest Public Courses.
Senior Jack Persons, junior Michael Helton, sophomore Michael Heda and freshmen Vince Palazzolo and Jack Porcelli advanced from team qualifying and will comprise the Colonials' fivesome against the 20-team Kiawah Classic field.
Persons paces the team so far this season with a pair of top-10 finishes, 288-63 (.821) record and 72.83 scoring average, currently the fourth-lowest among A-10 golfers and .03 strokes ahead of Jay Randolph's 56-year-old program-best scoring record.
GW will be joined by host Charleston Southern and Atlantic 10 rival Richmond along with Appalachian State, Bethune-Cookman, Coastal Carolina, Creighton, Gardner-Webb, Georgia Southern, GRU Augusta, High Point, Jacksonville State, Marquette, Missouri, Presbyterian, Radford, USC Upstate, Temple, Western Kentucky and Winthrop.
Each of the three rounds will begin at 8 a.m., with double-tee starts.
