WASHINGTON - The George Washington lacrosse team welcomes local foe George Mason on Wednesday, Feb. 27 for a 3:30 p.m. contest at the GW Lacrosse Field on the Mount Vernon Campus.
The Colonials (1-2) look to snap a two-game skid after falling to Drexel (10-3) and Denver (17-6). GW is in the middle of a five-game homestand and will welcome Bucknell on Sunday, followed by Holy Cross next Thursday.
The Buff and Blue most recently fell to Denver last Friday, Feb. 22. Sophomore Jamie Bumgardner recorded a team-high three points on the strength of two goals and one assist, while classmate Rachel Mia scored two goals for GW. George Mason (0-2) opened the season with back-to-back losses, dropping its season opener at Longwood (9-12) and its home opener against Brown (10-15). Rachel Obregon (4 g, 1 a) leads the Patriots through two games with five points, and Allie Hilderbrandt, Laura Lesky and Kirstin Russell have all chipped in three goals apiece.
GMU leads the all-time series with GW with a 10-1 record. The Colonials posted their first-ever victory over the Patriots last season with an 11-6 win on the road.
