GW Women's Cross Country Takes Sixth at Leopard Invitational

EASTON, Pa. - The freshmen pair of Macaulay Porter and Ariana North each notched top-seven finishes as the George Washington women's cross country team ran to a sixth-place finish out of 14 schools at the Leopard Invitational on Saturday.
Porter navigated the 6,000-meter course in 22:28.02 to clinch third-place overall out of 165 competitors. Porter's time was her second fastest this season at that distance.
North finished just 10 seconds behind Porter, taking seventh place in 22:38.83 for her second top-10 finish of the season.
Graduate student Angela Ryck was next across the line for the Colonials, finishing in 31st place in 23:28.61.
Sophomore Katie Bishop and Erica Halvorson finished back-to-back in 76th and 77th-place, respectively. Bishop's time was 24:30.13 with Halvorson following in 24:31.23.
Junior Kathryn Luker rounded out the Colonials' scoring in 24:59.90 for 93rd place.
American won the event followed by Bucknell, Lafayette, TCNJ and SUNY Cortland. The Colonials took sixth ahead of Lehigh, Loyola (Md.), Temple, Navy, Seton Hall, SUNY Oswego and Kutztown.
GW returns to action at the Atlantic 10 Championship on November 2 in Richmond, Va.
