GLENCOE, Ala. - The George Washington golf team finished fourth out of nine teams with a three-round score of 61-over par 925 at the Grub Mart Intercollegiate Invitational, hosted by Jacksonville State on Monday and Tuesday.

The final round of 18 holes proved to be the best for the Colonials, as they shot a 17-over 305 at the par-72, 7,040-yard Silver Lakes Golf Course.

Host Jacksonville State won the two-day event with a 33-over 897 through 54 holes of play. The Gamecocks' Tom Robson took home medalist honors with an even-par 216, while teammate Alfonso Otoya tied for second with a 7-over 223.

Senior Martin Liu paced the Colonials with an 11-over 227 for a seventh-place finish. Liu fired off a 2-over 74 on Tuesday to move up the ranks from his 14^th-place finish after Day 1 on Monday. Freshman Jack Persons shot his best round on Tuesday with a 2-over 74 to finish tied for 14^th with a three-round total of 14-over 230.

Senior Andres Pumariega shot a 6-over 78 on Tuesday for a three-round score of 16-over 232 to finish in a tie for 19^th. Classmates Brandon Rukin and Taylor Fuqua finished in 36^th and 47^th, respectively, with three-round scores of 24-over 240 and 33-over 249.

GW returns to the links this Friday when the squad visits Farmville, Va., for the two-day Longwood/Manor Intercollegiate.
