WASHINGTON - George Washington men's basketball redshirt sophomore Daymon Warren has requested and been granted his release to transfer from the program, the Department of Athletics announced Thursday.
The 6-foot-9 center from Richmond, Calif., averaged 0.7 points, 2.0 rebounds and 7.3 minutes in 24 games for the Colonials in 2010-11 after missing his freshman campaign in 2009-10 due to a fractured hand. He posted season-highs of four points against St. Bonaventure on Jan. 22, 2011, and eight rebounds in a victory over Howard on Jan. 2, 2011.
GW, which is set to return four starters and 11 letterwinners from the 2010-11 campaign, will begin the 2011-12 regular season Friday, Nov. 11 against University of Maryland-Eastern Shore (UMES) at Charles E. Smith Center at 7 p.m.
