Wednesday's Game: GW (14-12, 7-5 A-10) hosts Charlotte (10-16, 2-10 A-10) for the second time this season. GW defeated the 49ers, 73-67, just 18 days ago on Feb. 5 at Halton Arena.
• GW enters Wednesday's game having won three of its last four and four of the last six.
• Wednesday's game marks the 23rd meeting between the schools in a series that dates back to the 1978-79 season. GW has won three of the last four meetings and eight of the previous 11 meetings in the series.
• Charlotte has lost eight of its last nine, most recently a 61-56 loss at Saint Louis Saturday at Chaifetz Arena. Its lone victory during that stretch was over Xavier (66-62) on Feb. 2 at Halton Arena. Against SLU, Javarris Barnett scored a team-high 17 points and Charles Dewhurst had nine rebounds. Charlotte shot 38.9 percent from the field and was outrebounded, 40-35, by the Billikens.
• The 49ers are 2-9 on the road this season while GW is 7-5 at home.
• GW is coming off an 82-80 victory over La Salle Saturday at Tom Gola Arena for its second straight A-10 road win. GW shot 52.7 percent from the field but committed 21 turnovers and saw an 18-point second-half lead dwindle to one in the final minute.
• GW has been without its top returning scorer from last season, soph. G Lasan Kromah, for the entire 2010-11 season due to a preseason foot injury.
A Closer Look at Charlotte: With a 10-16 overall record, 2-10 in the A-10, Charlotte has three players averaging double figure points led by Derrio Green who averages 13.9 ppg (53 threes). Jamar Briscoe and Chris Braswell average 12.6 and 10.7 points, respectively. For the season, the 49ers are shooting 41.4 percent from the field, average 67.8 points a game and are outrebounding opponents by just over one carom a game. Charlotte comes to Smith Center having lost four straight beginning with the loss to GW on Feb. 5. The 49ers have played five overtime games, including four multiple-overtime games this season going 1-3 in them.
