Brendon Kelliher Concludes Impressive Season in NECBL

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington University senior Brendon Kelliher concluded an impressive season in the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) by being voted the Defensive Player of the Year. Kelliher was also named to the NECBL All-Star game earlier in the season.
The NECBL is a 12-team league founded in 1993 and plays in all six New England states. It recruits players attending U.S. colleges from New England, the other 44 States and foreign countries.
Kelliher played for the Newport (RI) Gulls and finished the 47-game season batting .291 with three home runs and 20 RBIs. He ranked second on his team with 44 hits and 23 runs scored. He also finished tied for the team lead with 21 walks. Defensively, Kelliher finished the season with a perfect fielding percentage and tallied four outfield assists.
At the NECBL All-Star game, Kelliher won the "Outfield Throw" competition, which measured arm strength and accuracy. He contributed to the Eastern Division's 10-0 victory with a RBI double.
A 2010 Atlantic 10 All-Conference second team selection, Kelliher batted .381 this past season for the Colonials (26-28, 14-13 A-10) with 15 home runs, 56 RBIs and 13 doubles.
The George Washington University baseball team opens the 2011 season on February 18, 2011 against Georgia Southern at J.I. Clements Stadium in Statesboro, GA.
