Colonials Victorious in 13-10 Shootout with Georgetown

ARLINGTON, VA - Runs have been aplenty in the two games between cross-town Georgetown and after dropping a 13-11 contest on Friday afternoon the Colonials rebounded and beat the Hoyas by the score of 13-10. Redshirt senior Chris Luick had two home runs in the victory and drove in six runs to lead the Colonial offense. Senior Curtis Eward also added a home run in the contest in the sixth inning.
The Colonials broke out the bats early in the contest and scored eight early runs in the first three innings to take an early lead. They gave up six runs in the fourth inning but the Colonials quickly responded with three runs to push their lead back to 11-6. The Colonials then held off the Hoyas with freshman Brian Derner pitching the final 3 2/3 innings to preserve the victory.
Junior Joe Richardson threw 5 1/3 innings, allowing six earned runs to earn his third victory of the season. Sophomore Stephen Oswald recorded two hits of his own in the game and drove in two runs.
The Hoyas started Tommy Isaacs, who threw three innings and allowed five earned runs on the day. Leadoff man Tommy Lee led the Georgetown attack once again with four hits and William Cupelo added three hits on his own.
The Colonials will now wrap up their three-game series against Georgetown, at Shirley Povich field Sunday, the contest has a 2:00 p.m. first pitch.
