
Golf Drops Match Play Event with Florida Gulf Coast

ESTERO, FL -- The George Washington golf team spent part of their spring break in a match-play event with Florida Gulf Coast University Monday. FGCU won the match, 5 1/2 to 1/2 over the Colonials played at the par-72, 6,868-yard West Bay Beach Golf Club near Fort Meyers.
GW senior Cole Turner and junior Brendan Barrack each carded 74s in the round that went down to the final hole before each fell, 1 down. GW sophomore Martin Liu shot a 76 and halved his match on the afternoon.
Also competing for the Colonials were seniors Sebastian Palomares, Michael Perlmutter and sophomore Taylor Fuqua.
The Colonials next host the 54-hole 12th annual George Washington Invitational this Friday and Saturday at Bear Trap Dunes Golf Course in Bethany Beach, DE.
