WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington's Eric Cantrell has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Pitcher of the Week for baseball, the league office announced Monday. It marks George Washington's first A-10 Pitcher of the Week honor of the 2010 season.
Cantrell notched his first victory of the season after allowing no earned runs over six innings on Feb. 26 in George Washington's 11-1 win over Coppin State. He allowed just two hits and struck out 12 and threw just 72 pitches in the contest. This is Cantrell's first A-10 honor in his collegiate career.
The Colonials will return to action this weekend against USC Upstate (3/5-7). The Friday game is set to begin at 3:00 p.m., while the two weekend contests have 1:00 p.m. and 12:00 p.m. start times respectively.
