Women's Tennis Outlasts Penn, 4-3

PHILADELPHIA -- Sophomore Zoe Krohn powered through a three-hour No. 5 singles match to secure the victory for the Colonials over Pennsylvania, 4-3. The teams made up an earlier match that was postponed due to snow.
Krohn battled Penn's Emma Whitfield, who took the first set 7-6 (13-11), while Krohn came back to win the second set 7-5 and the third set 7-6.
Mimi Hamling won her No. 2 singles match 6-1, 6-1, while Meg Tyner also won at the No. 6 position, 6-1, 6-0.
Freshman Dorota Lysienia also battled to force a third set in her No. 3 singles match. Lysienia dropped the first set 4-6, forced a third set when she won 7-5 (5), but dropped the deciding set 6-2.
Jacqueline Corba and Lysienia won their No. 2 doubles match 8-3, while Jennifer Hirsh and Sasha Gluck dropped the No. 3 doubles match 8-0. Again Krohn, along with Hamling, won the deciding point over UPenn, winning 9-8 (6).
The Colonials are back in action on Saturday against Richmond at the Montclair Country Club starting at 1 p.m.
