Post-Game Quotes
GW Coach Mike Bozeman
Defense played an important role in today's win. How much are you emphasizing it in practice?
"It's emphasized a lot now. In practice, sometimes we'll go a full 90 minutes to two hours strictly on defense. So we're emphasizing it a lot, and it showed tonight."
What was behind the dominating offensive performance today?
"We write on our board before every game now that `Players Win Games.' I'm always tweaking things in practice. But at the same time, it's about the players' execution of the offense and putting them in places where they can be effective, and getting the timing right. I think the timing was better today, and they executed a lot better."
Talk about being able to spread the scoring across so many players.
"I'm very happy with that, and that's basically the system - if somebody is hot, you go to them. If you're not capable of being an offensive threat, you bog down the system. That forces everyone on defense to have to guard the entire court, and that creates openings. We want to take advantage of what the defense gives us - always moving, always putting the defense on their heels and keeping them off-balance."
What are the team's biggest strengths and weaknesses one month into the season?
"I think our overall skill is pretty high. It's the mental toughness part of putting it together for an entire game [needs work]. When we face challenges, if we're not shooting well, then doing other parts that make us a skillful team is where we can improve, and always the effort."
Junior forward/guard Tara Booker
After the loss to ODU, did you come out today with any extra focus or drive?
"As Coach always says, your most important game is your next one. So we took our lessons from that one and applied it to today's game."
Does a blow-out win change the way you handle games?
"I don't think so. We started out strong, and toward the end focused on executing our plays. I don't think anything changes."
What are the team's biggest strengths and weaknesses one month into the season?
"The skill on our team is pretty dispersed. On any given night, one of us can have a game-high, so that's definitely our strength. Our weakness would definitely be putting two strong halves together. In previous games, we'd have either a strong first half or a strong second half. Just getting those two halves together is what we need."
