Softball Doubleheader at St. Bonaventure Postponed Until Sunday

ST. BONAVENTURE, NY - The George Washington University softball team's doubleheader against Atlantic 10 rival St. Bonaventure scheduled for Saturday, March 29 has been pushed back a day later to Sunday. First pitch is slated for 11:00 a.m. at McGraw-Jennings Field with game two following the conclusion of Sunday's first contest.
The Colonials (5-12, 1-3 A-10) and Bonnies split a doubleheader at Mount Vernon Athletic Complex last season with St. Bonaventure taking the opener, 8-1 and GW taking the nightcap, 4-3. The Bonnies own a 5-1 series lead over the Colonials.
GW is coming off a pair of one-run losses to crosstown rival Georgetown Wednesday. Five Colonials are batting over .300 and as a team, GW came into the week ranked 15th in the country with a .316 batting average. The Colonials also rank in the top 10 in home runs and slugging with sophomores Amanda Gabriel and Elisa Van Kirk ranking 15th nationally with five home runs each. Senior Chrysanthi Halkiotis ranks in the top ten in the country in doubles.
Gabriel is also the ace of the pitching staff with a 4-8 record and a 2.37 ERA. She has struck out 77 batters as opposed to just 11 walks in 71 innings.
