PHILADELPHIA, PA - George Washington women's lacrosse senior goalkeeper Caitlin Garman earned a share of her first career Atlantic 10 Player of the Week award following her career effort in the Colonials' near upset of No. 10 Georgetown.
Garman, who split this week's honor with Saint Joseph's Jenna Martino, set a career-high with 18 saves, one shy of the program record for saves in a game, in GW's narrow 11-10 loss to 10th-ranked Georgetown Wednesday.
GW's career saves (362) and wins (25) leader limited the Hoyas to just 2-of-8 shooting on free-position attempts, secured two ground balls and caused a turnover. Her 18 saves were the most recorded by an Atlantic 10 player since March 1, 2006.
GW (0-1), which received two votes in this week's Inside Lacrosse Top 20 media poll, hosts No. 9 Johns Hopkins (0-1) at Mount Vernon Field Tuesday at 3:30 pm.
