WASHINGTON, DC -- The Karl Hobbs Basketball Academy opens its first session of summer camp on Monday, June 18, at Charles E. Smith Athletic Center, located on The George Washington University campus. The camp has expanded in its sixth season to include four week-long sessions as well as an overnight weekend camp focusing on post and perimeter play.
The Karl Hobbs Basketball Academy is open to both boys and girls. Campers receive instruction from the coaches of the George Washington University men's basketball team, which was 2007 Atlantic 10 champions and last season competed in the NCAA Tournament for the third straight year. The Academy provides campers the opportunity to have fun while developing their basketball skills and learning about the game from guest lecturers.
Past guest lecturers have included Caron Butler of the NBA's Washington Wizards, Ray Allen of the Seattle Supersonics, and former Colonials stars Pops Mensah-Bonsu of the Dallas Mavericks and Mike Hall of the Washington Wizards.
The three additional day camp sessions will take place during the following dates: June 25-29, July 9-13, and July 23-27. The overnight camp will be held between June 22 and 24.
