ANNAPOLIS, MD -- GW's Lewis Sturdy (Keston, Kent, England) and Cole Turner (Marion, IN) each carded a three-over-par 74 to tie for sixth place, five strokes off the pace, in the weather-shortened 2007 Navy Spring Invitational Friday at Annapolis, MD. The final round of the tournament was cancelled after snow blanketed the par-71, 6,528-yard U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course Friday night in Annapolis.
GW sent two teams to compete with the GW Blue team finishing seventh (308) and the GW Gold team (316) placing in a two-way tie with the host Midshipmen of Navy for 15th place among 25 teams.
Atlantic 10 foe St. Bonaventure (300) became the 17th different school to win the team title in 28 years of playing the event with its 1-stroke lead over Longwood. Seton Hall's Kyle Morris won the individual title with a 2-under-par 69, the only player on Friday to shoot under par.
Colonials sophomore Eddie Newland (Piedmont, CA) continued his improved play with a four-over 75 (37-38) to tie for 14th place while GW junior Tim Johnson (Marblehead, MA) tied for 23rd after shooting a five-over 76 (35-41).
