GW Baseball Set to Host Charlotte this Weekend

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington (16-24-1, 8-7 A-10) will play host to Atlantic 10 Conference leader Charlotte (32-8, 12-3 A-10) at Barcroft Park this weekend for a three-game series, beginning Friday at 5:00 p.m.
The conference series will be a match-up between the top-two offensive teams in the A-10. Charlotte leads the league with a .311 batting average and 291 runs. GW is second with a batting average of .291 and 31 home runs.
The Colonials will be providing transportation to and from all three games, with rides beginning 45-minutes prior to the start time and continuing until first pitch. Additionally, GW is planning numerous promotions for each game.
On Friday, the Colonials' mascot Little George will make an appearance and a Potomac Nationals Bat-Twirl Race will be held in the third inning. Saturday's contest, at 1:00 p.m., will feature a live National Anthem, Louie, the Bowie Baysox mascot, and more contests, including the Bowie Baysox Loudest Fan and a Zipcar Race Around the Bases. In the series finale, on Sunday, at 12:00 p.m., there will be free food to the first 25 fans that RSVP, among other free giveaways.
Charlotte comes to Arlington, VA, winners of 13 of their last 16 contests. The 49ers are ranked #25 in the USA Today/ESPN Baseball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, #22 by the National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association, #26 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and #22 at Ping!Baseball.com.
GW enters the series winners in five of their past six conference games, and five of their past eight overall. The Colonials are currently in fifth place in the A-10.
