JMU Baseball Cruises past GW, 21-4

ARLINGTON, VA - James Madison (11-23) scored in every inning but the second and recorded 17 hits as they downed George Washington (11-22) Wednesday afternoon at Barcroft Park by a final score of 21-4.
GW has now lost four in a row and 10 of their past 13 games. For JMU, the win snapped a four-game losing streak.
James Madison put three runs on the board in the first inning, scoring two on Lee Bujakowski's single down the right field line to take the early 3-0 lead. The Dukes added a run in both the second and third innings, extending their lead to 5-0.
In the top of the third, GW's starting pitcher, Jimmy Duggan (Jefferson, MD/St. John's Prospect Hall), avoided further trouble by getting out of a bases-loaded jam, forcing Kellen Kulbacki into a groundout at short.
Brian Frazier (Allentown, PA/Emmaus), who entered the game in relief in the top of the fifth, got out of his own bases-loaded jam, striking out JMU's Lee Bujakowski for the third out of the inning, but not before the Dukes has plated two more runs.
In the sixth, JMU added another four runs, three of which came on a home run by Kulbacki, his team-leading 12th of the season. A run-scoring single in the seventh made it 12-0 in favor of the visiting Dukes.
The Colonials prevented the shutout in their half of the seventh, pushing two runs across, both on bases-loaded walks. Cutis Eward (Oak Hill, VA/Oakton) led-off with a single, advanced to second on a wild pitch and then moved to over to third on Whitey Wallace's (Syracuse, NY/Phillip Exeter Academy) single into left field. A hit batter and two walks followed to force in the two Colonial runs.
After the Dukes exploded for their final seven runs in the ninth, GW added two runs in their last at bats on a pair of RBI-singles from Tom Zebroski (Port Washington, NY/Paul Schreiber) and Michael Parker (Newton, MA/Newton South).
George Washington travels to Massachusetts this weekend for a three-game Atlantic 10 Conference series, beginning Friday at 3:00 p.m.
Game Notes: Curtis Eward, Tom Zebroski and Michael Parker recorded six of the nine GW hits (two hits each) ... the Colonials have been outscored 33-9 in their past two games ... in those two game, GW's opponents have recorded 37 hits ... Zebroski finished with two RBI ... JMU's Kellen Kulbacki was 4-for-5 with two walks, four runs and five RBI, including his 12th home run of the season.
