WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington Colonials softball doubleheader at James Madison on Wednesday, April 11, at 3:00 pm has been postponed due to a 90% chance of rain for the Harrisonburg, VA area. The twinbill has been rescheduled for Thursday, April 12, at 3:00 pm, at the JMU Softball Complex.
The Colonials (17-14, 4-6 A-10) come into the doubleheader having gone 3-1 last week, while sweeping Saint Joseph's and spliting a doubleheader versus Temple. Freshman Amanda Gabriel (Fullerton, CA/Sunny Hills) was tagged as Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week for her efforts which included two three-hit shutout victories over the Hawks.
GW has already surpassed last year's conference win total with four, while Head Coach Kim Staehle is just two wins away from reaching 150 career victories.
The Colonials will return home, Saturday, April 14, to face conference rival, St. Bonaventure, in a 12:00 pm doubleheader. In the event of a Colonials sweep over the Bonnies, GW will have won more conference games this season than in any previous season. In 2005, the Colonials won five conference games.
