Basketball's Carl Elliott Works Out for Wizards

WASHINGTON, DC -- George Washington junior Carl Elliott (Brooklyn, NY) worked out Tuesday for the Washington Wizards who conducted their sixth set of Pre-Draft Workouts at Verizon Center.
With just a two weeks remaining before the 2006 NBA Draft, potential NBA players have been working out for the Wizards front-office and coaching staff in hopes of making a positive impression. The Wizards hold the 18th and 48th overall picks in the 2006 NBA Draft.
Elliott, who entered his name as early-entry candidate in the 2006 NBA Draft but plans to keep his NCAA eligibility options open. Underclassmen have until June 18 to withdraw for the June 28 NBA Draft. Elliott has not retained an agent and has a scheduled workout with the New York Knicks this Friday.
GW's starting point guard for the last three seasons, Elliott led team in assists for the third straight year with 117 for an average of 3.9 assists per game. He also led the team--and the A-10--in 3-point FG percentage at .438 and was second on team in steals with 59. He was named to the A-10 All-Conference second team on March 6.
GW (27-3, 16-0 A-10) is coming off the best season in the 92-season history of the program. The Colonials won all 16 Atlantic 10 Conference games en route to the regular-season title and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament as an 8th seed. The Colonials defeated No. 9-seed UNC Wilmington in the first round Mar. 16 before falling to overall No. 1 seed Duke in the second round on Mar. 18, in Greensboro, NC, as part of the Atlanta Regional.
