RHP Derek Haese (5-4) started for GW and lasted 3.0 innings, allowing the Spiders' three-run first inning to suffer the loss. First baseman Joe Mahoney singled in a run and catcher Hank Coogan doubled home two more in the frame to give UR the early lead.
The Spiders took a 4-0 advantage in the fourth inning when second baseman Benji Marshall lined a two-out double into right centerfield to drive home left fielder Vince Riggi who doubled to lead the inning off.
