Colonials Sit at 9th After 1st Rd. of GW Invitational

BETHANY BEACH, DE -- GW senior Brian Carroll (Crystal Lake, IL) shot a two-under-par 70 (34-36) as the low Colonial after the first round of the GW Invitational Monday at the par-72, 6,834-yard Bear Trap Dunes Golf Course on the Delaware shore. Penn leads the 26-team field after the first day with a 292, three strokes ahead of Delaware (295) with Villanova in third with a team total of 297.
Seton Hall's Kyle Morris is the leader in the clubhouse with a four-under 68, two strokes ahead of Carroll. The Colonials won the 12-team tournament last year with a team total 603, 13 strokes ahead of second-place American (616).
Columbia's Joseph Kim is the defending champion after he carded a three-over-par 147 (72-75) to win the medalist honors, one stroke ahead of Carroll last year. After Saturday's round, Kim is tied for 123rd with a first-round 85.
The tournament concludes Sunday with a 9:30 am shotgun start.
Next up for the Colonials is the 54-hole Princeton Invitational, April 8-9, at Springdale Golf Club.
