ARLINGTON, VA - Liberty University (13-3) starter LHP Ryan Page (5-0) scattered four hits and tossed a complete game shutout against George Washington University (4-9) Saturday afternoon as the Colonials squandered starter RHP Josh Wilkie's (2-2) solid complete game performance in GW's 3-0 loss at Barcroft Park.
The game was completed in just one hour and fifty-eight minutes.
Both Wilkie and Page matched each other inning for inning, hanging zeros on the board, until the top of the eighth when LU's third baseman Chad Miller broke through with a two-run double to give the Flames a 2-0 lead.
Flames' left fielder Phillip Laurent added an RBI single in the ninth inning to make it 3-0 and seal the Colonials' third consecutive loss. Laurent went 4-for-4 with an RBI in the game.
GW was held to four singles and did not have a runner reach third base in the game.
Wilkie was the hard luck loser as he shutout LU through 7.0 innings, struck out six and walked two in his nine inning complete game.
The final game of the three game series between the Colonials and Flames is set for Sunday at 1:00 pm.
RHP Derrik Lutz (0-1, 2.01 ERA) will take the mound for GW.
