GW Softball Signs Aleli Pardo

WASHINGTON, DC - Aleli Pardo pronounced (AL-uh-LEE PAR-doe), a right-handed pitcher from Carrollton (FL) High School has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend The George Washington University and play softball, Colonials first-year Head Coach Kim Staehle announced today.
Pardo becomes the first signee by Staehle since she arrived at GW, after spending last year as an assistant coach at Georgetown. At Carrollton, Pardo has been among the Dade County leaders in strikeouts the past two seasons. In 2006, she was named First Team All-State, and All-Dade, posting a 11-3 record, with 137 strikeouts in 90 innings. She also was a strong offensive threat batting .643.
"We are thrilled that Aleli has chosen GW as her place of higher education," Staehle said. "She is a wonderful young lady and should provide solid leadership on the mound and a potent offensive threat at the plate."
She told the Coral Gables Gazette, "I want to major in political science so what better place than in D.C." Pardo also said that she wants to intern in the nation's capital and eventually wants to go to law school, preferably at George Washington.
The Colonials softball team, in just its fourth year as a varsity program, won a program-best 24 games last season.
