No. 25 Colonials Roll Over Rams, 72-54

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) - Jessica Simmonds posted her fifth double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead No. 25 George Washington to a 72-54 win over Rhode Island on Friday.
Kenan Cole scored a career-high 17 points for George Washington (12-5, 5-0), which won its sixth straight game to remain the only undefeated team in the Atlantic 10 conference play. Sarah-Jo Lawrence also scored 17 points and has scored in double-digits in 13 of GW's 16 games.
The Rams' Whitney Hollis picked up two fouls in the opening minute but GW missed its first five foul shots. Hollis made both of her foul shot attempts in the opening minute but was taken out due to the fouls that she had accrued. By the time reentered the game at around the 10-minute mark, GW had stretched the lead to six and Hollis picked up her third foul in just a minute of first-half play.
GW went ahead for good when Kenan Cole scored four minutes into the first half making it 5-4. The score was tied at nine-all when George Washington went on a 14-4 run. Kimberly Beck's three-pointer with 7:03 to play in the first half gave George Washington a 23-13 lead. George Washington led 37-25 at the half. the 12-point halftime lead was the team's largest in A-10 play this season. It was also the Colonials third-most first half points this season. The Colonials had a 22-14 halftime edge in rebounding. GW finished with a 41-28 advantage including 22 offensive boards. GW is a perfect 10-0 when outrebounding opponents this season.
Rhode Island came out strong in the second half with two consecutive three pointers to go on an 8-0 run starting at the end of the first half. A Safi Mojidi three-pointer pulled Rhode Island within 53-45 at the 9:56 mark of the second, but George Washington responded with an 18-4 run during which Cole scored nine points. Cole tied career marks with seven field goals and 14 attempts. She tied a season best when she went 3-4 from the foul line.
Mojidi led Rhode Island with 22 points and Tanya Rhodes had 15.
Rhode Island (5-11, 2-3) was hurt by 27 turnovers. George Washington had a 41-28 rebounding advantage.
The Colonials have won 10 of their last 11 games and have not yet lost in conference or in 2006. GW continues it's weekend roadtrip when the plays at Massachusetts (4-13, 1-5) on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. The Minutewomen won their first conference game on Thursday night when the stopped the Richmond Spiders at home. GW has won its last 10 games against UMass.
