WILLIAMSBURG, VA -- GW's Brian Carroll (Crystal Lake, IL) carded a six-under-par 210 (70-72-68) to win the Joe Agee Invitational Monday and Tuesday at Williamsburg, VA. As a team, GW edged Saint Joseph's by five strokes at the par-72, 6,868-yard Two Rivers Country Club.
The victory was GW's first since the 2005 Bethany Beach Fall Invitational on April 11. It also marked the ninth straight tournament that GW placed either first or second in the final team standings dating back to last season.
Old Dominion University placed third with a team total 871 (287-294-290). The strength of the field was formidable considering both Towson and Loyola qualified for the NCAA Division I men's golf championship last year.
GW sophomore Tim Johnson (Marblehead, MA) tied for second with a 213 (73-68-72) with three others.
The Colonials next play in the 54-hole Baylor Invitational, Oct. 10-11, at Bear Ridge Golf Club in Waco, TX.
