Volleyball Swept at Temple, 3-0

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- The George Washington volleyball team fell to Temple, 3-0, Friday night at TU's McGonigle Hall. It marked GW's second 3-0 loss to Temple this season and the 15th straight meeting won by the Owls. Temple (15-9, 8-2 A-10) won by the scores 30-23, 30-21, 30-21 in one hour, 29 minutes.
GW (10-14, 3-7 A-10) was led by Lindsay Vernand's (Huntington Beach, CA) 12 kills and just three errors for a .333 hitting percentage. Junior setter Kaimana Lee (Wailuku, HI) led GW with 29 assists and had a kill on her only attack for the night. Juliene McLaughlin (Lindsay, ONT) contributed nine kills and nine digs. GW mustered a season-low one block, a solo stop by senior Abigail Hatter (Manassas, VA).
Temple's offense was nearly flawless on the evening hitting a combined .465 (55-8-101) to the Colonials' .262 (45-18-103).
TU's Zhen Jia Liu notched the match's only double-double with 11 kills and a match-high 12 digs. The senior captain had no errors for a .550 hitting percentage. Patricia Vernon led all players with 13 kills and just one error for a .706 hitting percentage.
GW remains in Philadelphia for an Atlantic 10 Conference match at La Salle Saturday beginning at 5:00 p.m. at LU's Tom Gola Arena.
