WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington University's softball team along with head coach Shaunte' Fremin and assistant coach Trena Peel, held the first GW Hitting Clinic at the Mount Vernon Athletic Complex on Saturday, January 17. The Colonials' staff welcomed hitters from ages 8 to 18, who traveled from as far away as New Jersey, to learn some of the newest and most exciting batting techniques in the game today.
The 16 instructors provided an excellent batter-to-instructor ratio as the hitters were put through a series of 20 stations geared towards an aggressive style at the plate, which the GW team will adopt this season. The Colonials' staff used an individual video correction system to analyze the batter's swing and help them correct any flaws. The participants were also treated to motivational videos, speeches from GW players and a tour of the GW softball locker room.
Participants were invited to join the GW Softball team at select games during the 2004 season, which begins on February 21, when the Colonials host Lehigh for a doubleheader starting at 12:00 p.m.
