Kim Warner Named To All Mid-Atlantic Soccer Second Team

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington University women's soccer star Kim Warner (North York, Ontario/St. Joseph's) was named to the NSCAA/ adidas All Mid-Atlantic Soccer Second Team. Warner, who has another year of eligibility left, was selected as a forward by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Warner led the Atlantic 10 Conference in goals with 15 and points per game with a 1.74 average.
The 2002 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year award winner, Warner has also moved up on George Washington's All-Time Records lists. She is now third in career goals with 28 and career points with 64. She moved up 17 slots on the GW career points list during the season.
Warner has played for the Canadian National Team and is one of the most prolific scorers to have played for GW and in the NCAA. This was made clear during a four-goal performance against American University on September 25th, 2002. Four of this season's goals have been game-winners. Her play in 2002 resulted in two A-10 Co-Player of the Week awards.
This year, Warner led the Colonials to the Atlantic 10 post-season for the first time since 1998. While GW lost to Rhode Island in the semi-final, Warner almost nailed a game-tying goal in the final minute of play. The Colonials (10-9) finished the season in fourth while Richmond, Rhode Island, and Dayton advanced to the NCAA Tournament. Returning most of this year's starters, the Colonials have NCAA Tournament aspirations next year.
