WASHINGTON, DC - GW's Andrew Gallo (Thornhill, Ontario/Crescent) has been named both the Atlantic 10 Conference Performer of the Week and Rookie of the Week for men's golf, the league office has announced.
After 36 holes, Gallo was tied with two other players but bogeyed the second playoff hole to win the Temple Owl Invitational Sunday. He became just the fourth Colonial to win an individual tournament title in the last nine years. Gallo shot a 70-74-144 at the par-71, 6,595-yard Glenmaura National Golf Course in Moosic, PA.
Gallo joins an exclusive list of former Colonials who have won individual medalist honors during the last nine years: Ryan Day at Rehoboth Beach Invitational (Oct., 2000); Bryan Derdenger at Lehigh (Oct., 2000); and Thomas Blankvoort twice (GW Invitational in April, 2001 and Rehoboth Beach Invitational in April, 2002).
