Waggoner Promoted to Assistant Baseball Coach
Former Cleveland State Standout Named After Spending Last Year as a Volunteer Coach
WASHINGTON, DC (Sept. 25, 2001) -Jeff Waggoner has been named assistant baseball coach at The George Washington University, Senior Associate Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator Mary Jo Warner has announced. Waggoner was promoted to full-time status after spending last year as a volunteer assistant coach with GW.
"Jeff's work ethic and experience have proven to be an asset to this program. We are extremely pleased that Jeff was able to stay with us in a full-time capacity," head baseball coach, Tom Walter said.
A 1998 graduate of Cleveland State, Waggoner was previously a student assistant at Cleveland State and the pitching coach at the College of St. Rose. After graduating with a bachelor of science degree in sports management at Cleveland State, Waggoner earned a master's degree in educational psychology at the College of St. Rose.
In addition to his coaching experience, Waggoner was a catcher at Cleveland State from 1996-1998. A three-year letterman, Waggoner also won the Athletic Award for Excellence in Academics in his senior year.
Besides working with Colonials catchers, Waggoner also will work with the outfielders and serve as the team's hitting instructor. Waggoner replaces Chris Burr, who took a position on the baseball staff
