Bryan Beggs Named Second Team All-East Region
WASHINGTON, DC (June 5, 2001) - George Washington University senior pitcher Bryan Beggs (Somerset, PA/ Somerset) has been named to the 2001 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-East Region Second Team. The honor follows Beggs being named to the 2001 Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team on May 19.
Beggs, a tri-captain and the teams "closer", led the Atlantic 10 with 10 saves and struck out 30 batters in 34.2 innings while compiling a 2.86 ERA. He became the all-time leader in appearances at GW April 1 against Duquesne. Beggs appeared in 94 games during his GW career.
The Colonials finished the season with a school-record 38 victories and came within one game of qualifying for the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1992.
