NewsChannel 8 To Air Two GW Basketball Games

Colonials Men at Temple Feb. 8; Women at Xavier Feb. 4
WASHINGTON, DC (Jan. 30) - NewsChannel 8 will air two George Washington University basketball games in the month of February. The first will be Sunday, Feb. 4, at noon when the GW women play No. 18 Xavier in Cincinnati. The second game takes place Thursday, Feb. 8, at 8:00 p.m. when the GW men play at Temple in Philadelphia.
Both games will air live over the Emmy-award winning Atlantic 10 Television Network.
The GW men's and women's basketball programs are featured on the NCAA Edition of SportsTalk with Glenn Harris every other Thursday on NewsChannel 8. The shows air live Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. and feature coaches Tom Penders and Joe McKeown and special guests. Harris will take live call-in questions during the 30-minute segments and each show includes highlights and trivia contests for tickets. NewsChannel 8 is an independent cable station that serves more than 1.1 million households in northern Virginia, suburban Maryland and Washington, DC.
The next show (Feb. 1) features GW Director of Athletics Jack Kvancz. Kvancz, a member of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Committee, will speak about the selection process for the NCAA basketball tournament.
Dates for future shows: Feb. 1, Feb. 15, March 1 and March 15.
The GW men (9-11, 3-4 A-10) next plays at Xavier (15-3, 6-1 A-10) Saturday, Feb. 3. That game will be televised live on ESPN2 beginning at 7:30 p.m. from Cincinnati. The GW women (14-6, 8-0) host La Salle (10-8, 4-3) Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Smith Center.
