Colonials Fall to Charlotte, 84-73

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Rodney White scored 25 points as Charlotte held off stubborn George Washington 84-73.
Demon Brown added 16 points and Cam Stephens had 14 for the 49ers (8-4), who ended a two-game losing streak.
Sharpshooting guards SirValiant Brown and Chris Monroe paced the Colonials (6-7) with 20 and 17 points, respectively.
The Colonials then ran off 14 unanswered points to lead 69-68 on Monroe's 3-pointer from the right wing with 4:18 remaining. The 49ers regained the lead on two free throws from White and stretched the advantage to 74-69 on Demon Brown's layup with 3:16 left.
White carried the 49ers in the first half with 17 points in 15 minutes. The freshman forward didn't start the game after missing practice on Monday, but he propelled Charlotte to its largest lead in the opening period, 27-21, with 10 points in a 17-5 49ers' run.
The Colonials then outscored Charlotte 8-1 and took a 29-28 lead on Jaason Smith's 3-pointer from the top of the key with 3:42 left.
