Baseball Defeats Xavier 11-5

Washington, DC (April 29) - The George Washington baseball team defeated Xavier University 11-5 at Barcroft Park in Arlington, VA. The win improves the Colonials' record to 12-5 in the Atlantic 10 Conference and 31-19 overall, while the Musketeers drop to 9-6 in the A-10 and 17-30 overall.
The Colonials scored 11 unanswered runs in the first five innings and got a strong performance on the mound from sophomore Chris Worth (North Arlington, NJ/North Arlington) to defeat the Musketeers.
Worth ptiched six innings of shut-out baseball and struck out two for the victory. The win evens Worth's record to 6-6 on the year.
Senior Matt Walker (Pittsburgh, PA) went 4-5 on the day to lead the Colonials at the plate. Walker connected for a two-run home run in the fourth inning, his ninth of the year, and finished the day with three RBI's.
Junior Dan Rouhier (McLean, VA/St. Alban's) also had a big day at the plate. Rouhier went 3-5 on the day with three RBI's, including a three-run homer in the fifth inning.
The Colonials return to action Tuesday when they travel to Fairfax, VA to take on George Mason at 3:00 p.m.
