GW Baseball Splits With Xavier 11-4 and 4-1

Washington, DC- The George Washington baseball split a double-header with Xavier University at Barcroft Park in Arlington, VA. The Colonials defeated the Musketeers 11-4 in the first game, but dropped the second game 4-1. The day was highlighted by senior Ryan Dacey (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) who became the Colonials' all-time hit leader with a RBI single in the first game.
The Colonials defeated the Musketeers in the first game behind the hitting performances of senior Matt Walker (Pittsburgh, PA) and sophomore Matt Krimmel (Schnecksville, PA/Parkland). Walker went 3-3 in the game with two RBI's. Walker connected for two doubles and added his eighth home run of the year. Krimmel collected two hits on the day and drove in four RBI's to help the Colonials to the victory.
Junior Adam Belicic (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) earned his eighth victory of the season. Belicic pitched six innings and struck out seven Musketeer batters to improve his record to 8-4 on the season.
In the second game, Xavier's junior Matt Raih (De Kalb, IL/De Kalb) shut down the Colonials' offense and hurled his third complete game of the season. Raih allowed no earned runs on eight hits and struck out four to improve his record to 3-5 on the season.
Freshman Ryan Schreen (Libertyville, IL/Libertyville) delivered the big blow for the Musketeers with a two-run home run in the fifth inning. The home run gave the Musketeers a 2-1 lead, and Xavier added two runs in the seventh for the 4-1 victory.
Freshman Greg Conden (Owego, NY/Owego Free Academy) took the loss for the Colonials. The loss was Conden's first of the season and dropped his record to 7-1.
The Colonials and Musketeers wrap-up their series tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. at Barcroft Park in Arlington, VA.
