GW Baseball Crushes C.W. Post 26-9

Washington, DC- The George Washington baseball team extended their winning streak to seven games by defeating C.W. Post 26-9 at Barcroft Park in Arlington, VA.
The Colonials collected 25 hits and used a fifteen-run eighth inning to blow-out the Pioneers.
After trailing 3-0 in the third inning, the Colonials used back-to-back home runs by sophomore Mike Basset (Paramus, NJ/Paramus) and junior Dan Rouhier (McLean, VA/St. Albans) in the fifth inning to take a 6-3 lead. Bassett's home run, his seventh on the season, was a two-run home run, and Rouhier's, his sixth, was a solo home run.
GW extended its lead in the sixth inning by plating four more runs. The Colonials got RBI singles from junior Eric Mitchell (Thurmont, MD/Dubois), senior Matt Walker (Gibsonia, PA/South Carolina), and Bassett, and a RBI double from senior Ryan Dacey (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) to take a 10-3.
After scoring one run in the seventh, GW exploded for fifteen runs in the eighth. The Colonials batted around three times and had 11 hits to take a commanding lead over the Pioneers.
For the game, every starter collected a hit, and seven Colonial batters had three or more hits in the game. The Colonials were paced by Dacey's three hits and four RBI's, and Bassett's three hits and three RBI's. Walker collected four hits on the day, and freshman Tony Dokoupil (Pau Pau, WV/Severna Park), redshirt freshman Travis Crowder (Manassas, VA/Osbourn), and Rouhier each had three hits a piece.
Sophomore Mike O'Connor (Ellicott City, MD/Mt. St. Joe's) earned his first victory of the season. O'Connor pitched six innings, allowing just three runs and striking-out eight Pioneer batters. The win evens O'Connor's record to 1-1 for the season.
The Colonials return to action this weekend when they host Cleveland St. for a three game series at Barcroft Park. GW will play a double-header beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, with the final game of the series scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on Sunday.
