The Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Year, Brown set a new GW single-season scoring record with 738 points surpassing the 31-year-old mark of 723 points held by Bob Tallent during the 1968-69 season.
Brown was recognized as the league's Rookie of the Week six times this season. His six Rookie of the Week citations is the most for a Colonials player since Yinka Dare won the award nine times in 1992-93.
One of the country's impact freshmen, Brown broke the Smith Center single-game record for individual scoring with 42 points in GW's 94-91 loss to Siena Dec. 11. Brown was named the MVP of the BB&T Classic Dec. 5 after his two-game total of 50 points was one point shy of the tournament record. GW won the tournament by defeating Seton Hall on Dec. 4 and No. 19 Maryland on Dec. 5.
He is the first freshman to begin his career with four straight Rookie of the Year awards since the award began in 1982-83. Only former Rhode Island star Lamar Odom (now with the L.A. Clippers) and former Temple standout Mark Macon have won the award more consecutive times (five) than Brown.
Brown, who is currently second in the country in scoring with 24.6 points per game, had eight 30-plus point games in addition to the 42-point effort. He could become the first true freshman to lead Division I in scoring depending on how current scoring leader Courtney Alexander of Fresno State (25.3 ppg) scores in the Bulldogs' NCAA Tournament game(s).
GW ended the season with a record of 15-15, 9-7 in the A-10.
