GW Baseball Rallies To Beat Maryland 3-2

Washington, DC- The George Washington baseball team rallied in the bottom of the ninth to beat the University of Maryland 3-2 at Barcroft Park in Arlington, VA.
Freshman Tony Dokoupil (Pau Pau, WV/Servena Park) singled home Dan Rouhier (McLean, VA/St. Albans) for the game winner. Rouhier led off the ninth with a double down the left field line.
Starting pitcher, junior Adam Belicic (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin), held the Terrapins scoreless for eight innings, but Maryland quickly erased a GW 2-0 lead in the ninth with a single by Chuck Easter and a two-run homerun by Craig Munroe.
Junior Brian Beggs (Somerset, PA/Somerset) relieved Belicic after the homerun and subdued the Terrapins' offense by getting three pop-outs. For his effort, Beggs earned his second victory of the season, evening his record at 2-2.
Belicic for the day, pitched eight strong innings, only giving up two runs, while striking-out six Terrapin batters and walking one.
The Colonials broke a scoreless-tie in the six inning to take a 1-0 lead. Sophomore Matt Krimmel (Schnecksville, PA/Parkland) started the inning with a single and later scored on a fielder's choice RBI by Mike Bassett (Paramus, NJ/Paramus).
GW manufactured their second run in the eigth inning to take a 2-0 lead. Redshirt-freshman Travis Crowder (Manassas, VA/Osbourn) started the inning with a perfect bunt down the first base line. Crowder then stole second and third-base, and later scored on a Maryland error.
The Colonials return to action tomorrow as they travel crosstown to take on Georgetown University at 3:00 p.m.
