GW Baseball Pounds Pace 14-3

Washington, DC - The George Washington baseball team beat Pace University 14-3 to complete a three game sweep of the Setters at Barcroft Park in Arlington, VA.
The Colonials set the tone early by exploding for six runs in the first inning and added four more in the second inning. GW got a RBI double from Dan Rouhier (McLean, VA/St. Albans), and RBI singles by Mike Bassett (Paramus, NJ/Paramus), Eric Mitchell (Thurmont, MD/Dubois), and Travis Crowder (Manassas, VA/Osbourn Park) to take the early 6-0 advantage.
In the second inning, Adam Belicic (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) delivered the big blow in the inning. Belicic connected for a three-run homerun, his second on the year. Freshman Chris Barry (Orchard Park, NY/Canisius) also hit a homerun in the inning. The homerun was Barry's first career homerun.
GW finished their scoring in the fourth inning. Rouhier added another RBI double, and Barry and Mitchell each had RBI singles.
Freshman Glenn Skutnik (Lorton, VA/Hayfield) earned his first career win. Pitching in relief for starter Mike O'Connor (Ellicott City, MD/Mt. St. Joe's), Skutnik pitched two innings, giving up no earned runs and striking out one batter, to improve his record to 1-0.
The Colonials return to the diamond Tuesday when the take on the University of Maryland at Barcroft Park. The contest is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
