Burr Named Assistant Baseball Coach

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Sept. 2, 1999) -- Chris Burr, a Washington area baseball instructor for four years and former minor league player in the Texas Rangers organization, was named assistant baseball coach at George Washington University, head coach Tom Walter announced.
Burr comes to GW after serving as manager of the Arlington (VA) Senators in the Clark Griffith Collegiate League for three seasons. His 1998 and 1999 squads won the All-American Amateur Baseball Association National Championships. With the Senators, Burr was responsible for all game decisions and recruitment of players. Before his managerial role, Burr was the assistant baseball coach at George Mason University from 1996-97. For six years, Burr served as a hitting instructor for the Bill Brown Baseball Camp in Fairfax, VA.
A 1992 graduate of George Mason University, Burr played from 1992-96 in the Texas Rangers farm system. His other professional baseball experience includes stints with the Amarillo Dillas of the Texas Louisiana League and with the Albany Colonie Diamond Dogs of the Northeast League.
Chris was a great player and has won two consecutive AAABA championships, which demonstrates his skill and talent, Walter said. He brings a tremendous amount of baseball knowledge to our team.
GW, (26-30 overall, 10-11 A-10) tied for second in the A-10's West Division in 1999.
