Baginski Signed By Detroit Tigers

WASHINGTON, DC (June 29, 1999) -- Tom Baginski, a 1999 George Washington University graduate, has signed a professional baseball contract with the Detroit Tigers organization and is currently playing for the Gulf Coast (FL) Tigers, the organization's rookie league team.
The lefthanded pitcher from Pittsburgh, PA/North Catholic High School finished his collegiate career with a 4.51 ERA, 259 strikeouts and an 11-13 record. During the 1999 campaign, Baginski struck out 105 batters, ranking him second in the Atlantic 10 Conference for strikeouts per nine innings with a 10.50 average. He allowed only 29 walks in 90 innings this season.
For the Gulf Coast Tigers, Baginski has a 1-0 record in two appearances. In four innings, Baginskihas struck out five batters and allowed three hits.
An eight-semester Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll member, Baginski graduated in May with a 3.45 GPA and received a degree in sports adminstration.
