Former men’s basketball student-athlete Matt Hart enters his first season as a member of the coaching staff, serving in the role of Director of Player Development/Video Coordinator.
Hart returns to GW after playing professionally for the Rochester RazorSharks of the North American Premier Basketball League during the 2017-18 season. He had been set to play in the National Basketball League of Canada this season after he was selected in the second round of their draft, before suffering a knee injury that will sideline him for the season.
In his two seasons at GW, Hart became one of the most accurate shooters in the Atlantic 10. As a junior in 2015-16, he shot .421 from three-point range in helping the Colonials go 29-10 and win the Postseason NIT. A year later, he shot .425 from distance as GW recorded another 20-win season.
A native of Orchard Park, New York, Hart spent his first two collegiate seasons at Hamilton College where he averaged 17.9 points per game on .458 shooting. He earned his degree in organizational sciences from GW in May of 2017.
