Lauren Shear is in her seventh year at GW and second year with the men’s basketball program as the Director of Operations. Shear got her start at GW as an intern with Athletics Communications in 2015-16 and joined as a full-time Athletics Communications Associate after she graduated from GW in 2017. As the primary social media strategist, she developed a strategic plan for GW’s main Athletics social media accounts and played an instrumental role in crafting a unique and consistent voice for each of GW’s 27 sport NCAA Division I athletics programs.
In her first year as the Director of Operations at GW, Shear oversaw GW’s Leroy Charles Mentorship program, which aims to connect student-athletes with notable and accomplished alumni to expand their network and develop their professional skills. She also worked closely with GW’s Development office to direct alumni outreach.
Earning her Bachelor of Arts in Communication with summa cum laude honors, Shear also worked with the Washington Capitals Media Relations Game Day staff for four seasons, including their Stanley Cup championship run in 2018. Shear will complete her Masters of Communication Management at GW in May 2022.
