GW softball fell for the second straight day in extra innings, losing Wednesday afternoon's matchup to Georgetown, 5-4, in 10 innings. The loss dropped the Revolutionaries to 11-8 overall.

Perhaps energized in front of crowds of local school children on Kids Day at the GW Softball Field, the Revolutionaries and Hoyas each found early success on offense. Georgetown grabbed the upper hand, leading 2-1 after two and 4-3 after the third, but GW tied the game at 4-4 in the fifth, where the score stayed until the 10th.

It took until the implementation of the international tie breaker in the 10th inning to crack the extra-innings tie, which the Hoyas did with one run in the top of the 10th. GW was unable to answer as the Hoyas won the first of two games in the season series.

Ashley Corpuz (three hits), Cadence Gilliland (two) and Emma Fales (two) each had multi-hit games to help power GW's offense. Gilliland had a pair of GW's RBI, which included a fifth-inning single that tied the game.

Chloe Greene made the start and went 3.0 innings for GW, replaced by Cece Smith to start the fourth who took GW the rest of the way, allowing one run in 7.0 IP.

Both teams put the ball in play often, as there were only five combined strikeouts and three total walks in the contest.

GW and Georgetown meet again at the GW Softball Field on Wednesday, April 22.

The Revolutionaries conclude their eight-game homestand with a three-game set vs. George Mason this weekend, beginning on Saturday with a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader on ESPN+.
